This product can be used in several ways. First of all, it can be put into a literacy center after you have taught the targeted sight word. Kids can use Playdoh™ to form the sight words or trace over it with dry erase markers. I would laminate each mat so they will be ready once you have taught each one. These can also be used as an invention where the child would trace the word with their finger, say the word, and then trace over it with a dry erase and then read it three more times, as the word is written and then has three smaller versions below. This invention should be done with fidelity and should be done with someone who will sit next to the child, take their hand, and together trace and say the word. The child then can be given the large blacklined copy to take home, as well as, the half-sized version which can be put into a book with words the child is learning. Cover included.
