My first graders love these! I give each child a sight word on cover stock. I draw lines on the back before I hand out the papers to the students. They color and decorate the front and then flip it over to cut along the lines I have drawn on for them on the back.
You can make as many or as few lines to meet the needs of your class. Younger children may only need 6 puzzle pieces while older kids could handle 9 or 12 pieces. When they are finished they put all the pieces in zip lock baggies with their names on them. The way they know whose puzzle they are solving. I add the sight word puzzles as a center for my kids and they are always eager to work on them.
