This reader presents students with familiar places and things they would see at those places. This reader was designed to focus students’ attention on 1) careful reading (for example, some pages have “a” and others have “the”), 2) using picture clues and making good predictions about where those items might be, and 3) decoding by checking students’ guesses about words with their beginning and ending sounds and other strategies to see if they are correct.
