Learning sight words is a key component in all grades, especially in the early grades. It can be very difficult for some students. My students learn sight words best with these sight word readers. They love that they get to write in the sight words to complete each sentence, color the pictures, follow each word as reading left to right by putting their finger on the black dots to follow the words, and check off each reading skill they master from their "I Can" checklist on the last page of each reader. When we practice page numbers my students like to number each page by writing the page number in a bottom color. This set of Primer Dolch Sight Word Readers are great for learning sight words. My students read their Sight Word Readers, along with their leveled readers, to me during our Guided Reading groups while they are at my guided reading tables. I always include a laminated copy of each reader in our classroom library after we have covered that sight word and read that reader. It really helps build confidence in each student's reading skills.
52 Primer Dolch Sight Word Readers
Each reader has 8 pages (4 full pages).
Each reader is in black & white to allow students to color their readers. This makes each book more personal and more ink friendly when it comes to your printer.
There is a black dot under each word in the readers so that students can make sure they follow each word as they read.
There are two reader options. The fill in the blank option allows students to fill in the blank with the missing sight word to complete the sentences in each reader. The no blank reader option does not require students to write in their reader. They can just color the reader and practice reading each sentence.
Sight Word Reader Checklist for Teachers is included in this set. Teachers can put a check mark next to each sentence for each Sight Word Reader as the student reads their sight word readers independently. This allows the teacher to keep track of which sight words each student knows, which Sight Word Reader each student has read, and mark which sight words each student needs more reinforcement with.
Sight words include: Like, Have, Did, Ran, Saw,
Do, This, Am, No, What, Are, He, She, There,
Will, Yes, Get, Must, On, That, Was, At, Want,
With, Be, They, But, Came, Went, Our, Please,
Say, Who, All, Eat, Ride, Pretty, Soon, Ate,
Now, Good, Out, Under, Well, New, So, Into,
Too, Four, Black, Brown, White
There are also separate sight word readers for the What reader and Good reader included with the Canadian spelling version for the word colour.
