These scrambled sentence activities are aligned to the sight word pacing for the Houghton Mifflin Wonders Reading series for grade 1. However, the activities can be used by teachers following any reading series. The words and activities are appropriate for any student at a first grade level. There are 2 scrambled sentence activities for each of the 5 weeks in Unit 3.
In addition to other appropriate first grade sight words, The Wonders sight words included in this packet are:
away, now, some, today, why, green, grow, pretty, should, together, water, any, once, happy, from, upon, ago, how, old, people, boy, girl, after, by, done, every, soon, work.
Scrambled sentences are a very effective teaching strategy for students to become familiar with sentence structure and sight words. I do scrambled sentences at least once a week all year long, especially with my struggling readers.
