Sight words, also known Fry words, are the most used words in reading and writing. It is critical for young readers to instantly recognize these words by sight in order to build their reading fluency. Comprehension breaks down when students try to decode these words. (many Fry words cannot be easily sounded out which makes learning these words more difficult but that much more important!)
This pack helps students practice using these words in context. There are two files included. One with lists broken down into groups of five, and one into groups of ten. Each set has a check off word bank and two levels of sentence fill ins for easy differentiation. There are also two versions of a blank page for students to make up their own sentences. I like to print the fill in and the blank one back to back, and use it as a center, but they can be used many ways.
I hope you find this resource as helpful as I do for assessing students understanding of sight words in context.
*** This packet is for Fry's fourth list of 100, starting with body and ending with upon***
