Sight Word Slam Directions
Best with 2-4 players
Each player grabs one sight word card (without looking at the words)and places it in front of them with the words facing down.
Everyone scoops up as many letter tiles as they can from the tile bowl (you decide if students use one handful, small spoons, etc.).
At the same time, everyone flips over their sight word card with the four words on it.
Students try to be the first one to correctly spell ONE sight word (out of 4) with their tiles they scooped.
The fist one to spell a sight word using their tiles slams their hand down on the desk and says “SLAM and the word they spelled.” For example, they may say “SLAM RED” if they spelled red.
Whoever gets the “slam” keeps that card and the round is over. Everyone’s tiles get mixed back into the bowl and everyone gets a new sight word card after each slam round (discard all used sight cards).
Whoever has the most cards at the end wins.
Of course vary the rules to your liking!
