hank you for purchasing my product! I am a first grade teacher that believes in teaching my students to be independent in their learning! I try to make products that can be used for all learning levels (with minimal tweaking). This product is intended to coincide with the Wonders Sight Words for first graders. It is supplemental material, not material from the Wonders program. Each sight word card is labeled by Unit and Week taught.
Here is how I intend to use this in my classroom:
Step 1: Print, cut, and laminate the page with the dice activities and all of the sight words.
Step 2: Print the accountability sheet and copy back to back
Step 3: Teach students how to use and record each dice activity.
Step 4: Leave out for independent centers, or reading workshop, or early finishers.
Step 5: Enjoy engaged learners!
Roll a 1: Rainbow trace. Students write the word in pencil first, then trace it in a rainbow pattern.
Roll a 2: Write a sentence. Try and set an expected word count with students so you don’t get a three word sentence!
Roll a 3: Have students use ABC letter magnets to spell out their sight word. Then they will write down that word on their recording sheet.
Roll a 4: Read the word to a friend. This one might be the most tricky. It is important for students to know the expectations of this one and really practice it with you! I would recommend having them read their sight word to a new friend each time and then having the friend write down the word in the space provided. This way two students are reviewing a word and speaking and listening is being met!
Roll a 5: Easy!
Roll a 6: Find the word in a book around the classroom and make sure to write down the title and page number! I am all about keeping kids accountable!
