What better way to learn sight words than by singing them?!
Keep the song frame in a pocket chart and just change out the words and their spelling pattern each day.
Start your day by singing the song (to the tune of bingo).
"There was a sight word of the day and ___ was our sight word. ___, ___, ___ and ____ was our sight word!"
Then, let students write the sight word on the board every time they see it in a book. By the end of the day, the students will have focused so much on the word that they'll have it memorized!
I've highlighted key chunks or key parts of each word, to aid in discussion. For example, the word "hat" is in that. The word from has an "o", not a "u". The bossy e in "like" makes the "i" says its name.
