Did you know that word sorts help to fine tune higher order thinking skills in students? What better way to work with sight words than through hands-on word sorts where students cut, paste and manipulate words into alike groups?
This printable activity set, Sight Word Sorting Cut & Paste Printables, is packed with word sorts for all (52) Dolch Sight Words at the Primer level. Each printable compares 3 words. Each word is provided next to a box that contains 3 empty squares and a handwriting strip. Students will color the word, then cut out all 12 words from the bottom of the page. Words are provided in various fonts to add some difficulty. They will glue the words into the correct boxes. Then practice writing the word on the handwriting strip. They will end up with extra 3 words that do not belong on any chart (this adds more higher order thinking).
The options for these printables are endless. They can be used in a center with flash-cards or other sight word games (see my store for puzzles and games), sent home as homework, given as morning work, etc... Be sure to download the preview to see a snapshot of the set. If you have any questions feel free to email me at email@example.com. Thanks for visiting my store.
