This hands-on activity lets children practice spelling common sight words.
It practises lists 1-3 from learning2spell.com which cover 50% of the most commonly used words in the English language. All the words also feature on the Dolch word list.
Children are required to use letter cards to build a sight word. There are 6 words to make in each activity and 9 activities altogether. That is 54 sight words to spell!
This activity is unique as it encourages children to use technology to self check their answers. Perfect for the more 'reluctant' speller!
When children have completed their activity they can use a Smart Device (e.g. iPad) to scan a QR Code for self checking of their answers.
If you don't have access to a Smart Device there are also paper answer sheets for children to use.
This resource is suitable to use in pairs or individually and lends itself to be used time and time again. Hand it out as an independent activity for kids to do while you are taking Guided Reading, or hand the activities out as a reward for positive behaviour. It's amazing what children will do when they know technology is involved ;)
This literacy resource will be emailed to you as an non-editable .pdf file.
All you have to do is print and laminate and you will have a great resource to add to your classroom Reading Games.
