1st Grade Sight Words Can Label
Blank Label (use this for other words you would like students to focus on).
Black and White Versions
Tall (or Short) Chip Cans (Pringle’s™ work nicely- Both size labels are included)
Small Plastic or Paper Cups (make sure they fit the can when stacked)
Marker: Write focus words on cups (make sure the cup opening is facing down so that the words are not upside down when stacked).
Cut out can labels on black line and laminate. Fit labels around can and tape. (Note: A little of the tall can will show due to paper size. You can either attach construction paper around the can before placing the label on OR use colored tape to make a nice border and hide the part that shows.) Place sight word cups inside can and follow game directions below.
Directions: 2 Players
Remove cups from container and leave in a single stack. Students will take turns picking a cup from top of single stack and read the sight word. If correct, student will add the cup to his/her pyramid. If incorrect, student places the cup at the bottom of single stack. Continue until there are no more cups. The student with the most cups at the end wins the game!
