Eyewords Sight Word Stories are an excellent addition to kindergarten, first grade, remedial, and ESL shared reading and guided reading programs. Eyewords stories introduce two or three target sight words per booklet from the Eyewords Kindergarten Set. The stories gradually increase in difficulty as students recall sight words learned from previous stories to build their sight vocabulary. Each story begins with an introduction to the sight words being taught. Sight words are introduced with embedded picture and accompanying phrase, as well as plain text. Stories are presented in two formats per download. The format at the top of the page uses Eyewords embedded picture words for each target word. The format at the bottom of the page has the same story, however it is written completely in plain text. Print file and cut along horizontal centre two create two different formats of the story (embedded picture and plain text). When the reader is confident, remove the Eyewords picture support and have students read the plain text version of the story. Teachers are encouraged to print multiple copies of each booklet for use in shared and guided reading sessions as well as for home use. Each time Eyewords Sight Word Stories are printed, teachers receive both the Eyewords embedded picture version and the plain text version. Staple down the left hand side and cut in half to create both sets of booklets. Watch your students’ approach to reading go from anxious to confident in no time. See gains in word recognition, reading fluency and comprehension with Eyewords Sight Word Stories. Eyewords Sight Word Story, Booklet 5 has the following target sight words: up, and, down.
