Story Cards are short high-interest stories filled with features that new readers need. These nine original sight word stories include...

* Lots of repetition of high-frequency words

* Picture support

* Opportunities to practice fluency: phrasing, intonation, expression, punctuation

* Challenge words that can be determined by basic decoding, picture support,

using the first letter, and context

Each story card is presented in three formats:

* Full color page with complete story

* Full color jpegs of each story, suitable for using on your interactive board in your
classroom for shared reading or on handheld digital devices
with your favorite
app, like Seesaw. You also have permission to email the jpegs in whole or part to
your students' families
, who can print them or use them on digital devices

* Black and white printables with missing sight words for students to write in

Suggestions for using story cards:

* Use as a warm-up in a guided reading lesson

* Add a set to your fluency center

* Great for buddy reading

* Send copies home for extra practice

* Have your student "mark them up', highlighting punctuation, sight words, etc.

* Use for tutoring sessions or with intervention groups

* If your students each have a song and poem notebook, the story cards make great

* Please note that these are one page stories, not printable booklets.
