This board game is a fun and interactive way to get your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students to practice some of the most common high frequency words (Dolch Word List) for their age group! The PDF file includes the 3-page game board which can be easily downloaded and assembled. For quick assembly, I would recommend printing it on card stock and simply taping the backside of the game board sheets together. For long-lasting use, I would recommend printing it on standard printer paper, taping the 3 game boards sheets together, and then running it through a laminator. Enjoy!!!
Age range: 1st - 3rd grade
Number of players: 2-4
Objective: A fun way to develop sight word recognition and spelling skills!
You will need:
-1 counter per player
-Each player places his/her counter on START.
-Player 1 rolls the die and then moves forward the number of spaces on the die.
-When Player 1 lands on the appropriate square, he/she will read the sight word
on that square. If the word is read correctly, he/she stays on that space. If the
word is read incorrectly, the student moves his/her counter back to the last
square he/she occupied and can proceed during the next turn.
-Play continues the same way for each player.
-The first player to reach FINISH is the winner!
-Roll 2 dice to make the game go faster.
-Have students compete in pairs/small groups instead of individually.
-If you land on top of another player, you will send them back 5 spaces.
