Freebie! Sight Word Tic-Tac-Toe & Rainbow Words

Mastering sight words is critical to reading success for many young readers. Here are 111 Tic-Tac-Toe High Frequency Sight Word Boards and 111 matching Rainbow Words Sheets that can be played/used by your students. There are two words per board that follow the First Grade Lessons in Journeys.

How I play:

*Partners each get same sheet. (Can be same day or
different day.)

*Each picks a word for Game 1. Player 1 says word, spells it, spells it again while writing it, and then says again. (Say, Spell, Spell, Say.)

*Player 2 does the same.

*Repeat until game over. Winner writes name on Winner line and then each gets opposite word for Game 2.

You can run double-sided (with same words or two new ones) and have kids play additional times. The games are quick (yet effective!) so many students love playing 4 games per sheet!
Perfect for those extra few minutes here and there!

Rainbow Words Sheets: Write words in pencil as you spell them. (I have them write it at least two inches high.) Then use a crayon to trace over letters as you say them. (Say word. Spell as tracing. Say again.) Repeat four more times with different color crayon.
