This packet is a very fun interactive way to learn K-2nd sight words. In elementary students generally learn 100 words a year for the first 3 years of school. I needed to find something that had all of them in one place. After doing much research and trying to find something that works, I landed on creating this document. This set can be used in conjunction with my sight word flash cards to teach a child 3 years of sight words in 1 year. If you are starting in Kindergarten you can stretch it out to take a little bit longer, as your child will still be way ahead. Learning sight words is REALLY important. If a child has a solid foundation in sight words it will make all of the rest of reading super easy.
These puzzles are colorful and simple. They start off very easy so that any 5 year old can do them. They gradually get a little more complicated. They are concentrating on finding each letter to make a word. They do this by coloring in the letters based on what color the word is down at the bottom in the list of words. That way, when the puzzle is complete, it is fun and colorful, and the words will easily stand out for quick review of words.
These worksheets work!! I am confident that this is the simplest way to teach sight words as I do not recommend using a bunch of different games and worksheets to learn a skill. Keep children focused by doing a couple worksheets a week. If you do 2 worksheets a week students will get thru this set in 12 weeks. That is record speed. I personally slow it down and work on the flashcards as we go. I concentrate on learning 1 card (or worksheet) a week. Thanks, & Enjoy!
