These First Grade Sight Words were taken from the most used words in books with Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading levels D-I or DRA2 levels 6-16.
Each word has a page with a custom word search, “tap-it” or “trick word” (trick words are words that are unable to be correctly sounded out), “write it,” “use it in a sentence” and “unscramble and build it.” Students can cut the bottom of each page to unscramble letters or they can use extra letters in the packet.
To assist students who need help scoring (or adding) their words, I have included numbers to manipulate on a “score card.” Students can also use counters to correspond with each letter’s given value.
You can also print the sight words out on card stock and/or laminate them to use year after year! After you have introduced a word, hang it on the word wall. Students will be able to reference sight words quickly and easily! You can also give your students a copy of the cards to cut and practice with at school as well as send a copy home!
Once students have completed their assigned word work, they can practice spelling and using their sight words in the
“Build-a-Sight Word” game!
