Does that make sense? Does that sound right?
These are questions we often ask young readers to prompt them to think about their reading. This reusable cloze activity supports the development of syntax and semantics as well as supporting the development of reading Sight Words. Simply print, laminate and cut!
You choose whether to use it as an individual task or have students work together in a group to match all the words.
This PDF download includes 54 sentence strips and sight word cards for placement in each sentence. Students are required to read each sentence and decide which word card ‘sounds right’ or ‘makes sense’ in that sentence. There are also picture clues on each strip.
The included sight words for each sentence are:
like, with, in, I , no, see, you, get, are, do, my, play, can, am, is, this, boy, day, girl, sing, the, out, it, at, you, and, to, come, go he, put, by, up, old, one, two, has, saw, said, have, an, she, his, her, we, big, little, from, was, they, that, for, not, on
This activity is ideal for Early/Emergent Readers during reading centers.
