Perfect for morning tubs, early finishers, centers, or busy boxes, these Sight Words Fine Motor Task Boxes allow students to have fun while strengthening their literacy and fine motor skills.
UPDATE 1/10/18 - This set now includes the first two Fry word lists (1-200) in addition to the pre-primer-3rd grade Dolch lists. If you find the set to be missing a few words that you teach, please feel free to contact me.
This set includes ideas and printable materials for 10 sight words fine motor task boxes. These simple activities are designed to promote the development of literacy skills while allowing students to strengthen their fine motor skills. Simple enough to be completed independently, these task boxes can be used in the mornings when children first come to school, as a quiet break later in the day, or by individual students as they finish their other work. Each task includes a printable label, picture directions, and other materials (such as work mats or task cards). Each activity requires the inclusion of other classroom items such as manipulatives or basic classroom supplies. Please see the included materials list. Each activity is sized to fit into a standard plastic pencil box.
This sight words set is designed to grow with your students as they increase their knowledge of sight words. Several common word lists are included in this set (Dolch pre-primer through 3rd grade, and Fry first 200). Some of the activities require the inclusion of a word ring and others need word tracing cards. All of these cards are included at the end of the file.
Each of the 10 included fine motor sight words tasks is designed to fit into a standard plastic pencil box. This allows for easy storage and organization. To prepare, print and laminate the activity label and instructions as well as the printable activity materials. Attach the activity label to the outside of the box and the illustrated instruction card inside the lid. Place all listed materials inside the box.
Differentiation Options: Most of the activities include more than one option for instructions to allow you to tailor the boxes to your students’ levels.
