Fishing for Sight Words! is a fun, hands-on literacy center for your students to learn and practice their sight words. Students catch fish that contain sight words.
***This game is for Dolch Nouns – ALL
includes fish in both color and b/w!
there are blank fish in case you want to add your own words!
a recording sheet is included!
Grab a fishing pole and practice those sight words!
We place a velcro strip on our fishing pole bobber which is attached with string to a wooden dowel and a velcro dot is attached to each laminated fish. OR you can put a paper clip on each fish and attach a magnet to your wooden dowel.
How to Play with 1 Player: Lay the fish out on the floor, face up. Student reads a fish aloud and catches it. The sight word can then be written on the recording sheet.
How to Play with 2 Players: The first player chooses a fish and reads the word aloud. The next player finds that word and catches the fish with his/her fishing pole. The sight word can then be written on his/her recording sheet.
How to Play with More Than 2 Players: One student calls out a word while the other players race to find it and catch it. [Remember to teach fishing rod etiquette :) ]
An engaging sight word game that students absolutely love!
