This is a GREAT whole group game for practicing their sight words! Use the “Find your Buddy” work game along with some or all of the 220 Dolch sight words.
This is a set of cards as you have if you need more, just add new words, depending of the number of students.
Print them, cut them along the dotted line and either laminate them of paste them on construction paper.
As you can see, I wrote the word on top of the card and one of the letters for the word on the card. That way, if a child has an "o," he/she knows if it goes with to, go, do, so, no, or on.
Give everyone a card and tell them they cannot look at it until I say, "Go." Then, I have them spread out anywhere in the room. When you say, "GO," they have to find their Hidden Buddy to make their word. Once they find their partner, they sit down together where they are as quickly as they can, so they can see who have made a word.
You can play music while they are moving around looking for their partner.
When the game ends, every one takes turn to share their word. For older kids, they can say a sentence.
As an extension, they can write their sentence in their writing journal.
