Arrange words in each set to make sentences. More than one complete sentence can be created with each set of words. An Easy Way to Differentiate!
Each group of words has a symbol on each individual card or word that shows that they are a group and that the student must use the words in each group to construct a good sentence. For example there may be a triangle on each card. This was done so that the teacher can run the cards off in black and white if colored paper is not available. Ideally, these cards should be run off so that each group of words, which are on a single page, can be run off on different colored paper to know which words go together.
The cards contain easy words to read from Fry and Dolch word lists.
Children construct sentences using the cards and then write them on the sheet provided adding correct capitalization and punctuation. They are also asked to draw a picture to show understanding. The cards are designed to create simple or more complex sentences and the children are instructed to make the best sentence they can with the words provided. This differentiates naturally depending on the sentence the student can create.
