I use this system in my classroom as a way to regularly monitor my students’ acquisition of high frequency words. Each student works at their own pace, but the goal should be to pass a list every 1-2 weeks. I have also included the second and third grade words for those students who are ready to progress above and beyond!
The first page for each list has a note to parents, along with some ideas for how they can practice the words at home. For testing, it is easiest for me to test on Fridays, but I have left a space for you to write in the day you’d be testing in your own classroom. The second page for each list is a set of flashcards to use at home. In the last part of the set are charts for you to keep track of your students’ progress throughout the year, bracelets to cut apart for the students to wear on the day they master a word list, and a certificate to use at the end of the school year for their successes. The bracelets are included in both full color and black and white.
Lists 1-14 are the first grade Dolch sight words.
Lists 14-18 are the second grade Dolch words.
Lists 18-22 are the third grade Dolch words.
