Description
Objective: Provide opportunities for young readers to be exposed to high-frequency words through play.
How to Prepare
- Cut out each card (beginning on page 2) and put them in a pile - face down.
- Cut out a headband for each player with a slot cut out (positioned on the forehead) to slide a card inside. (I just used construction paper and tape.)
- Give each student a note sheet to keep track of answers.
- 2-4 Players
How to Play
- Draw one card at a time and place it in your headband facing the other players. (Do not peek!)
- Each player takes turns asking yes/no questions to determine the card that is on your forehead. (You receive 2 minutes and note sheet to keep track of answers.) *Teacher - I displayed example questions if they struggled thinking of something to ask.
- Examples: (Poster to display these questions, on page 6)
- Is my word a color?
- Is my word a number?
- Is my word an action?
- Does my word tell me where?
- etc.
- Examples: (Poster to display these questions, on page 6)
- Take turns until you guess your word!
