Includes 10 pages that Integrate Math at different levels. How many letters are in each word; Count by 2's...Each letter is worth 2; How Much are Your Words worth: Differentiated addition: Starting by simply adding 1 and 2 where each letter is only worth 1 or 2 and then gradually increasing with each sheet so that letters are worth values from 1-10.

These word work, word wall, spelling and even read the room pages can be used during independent stations or word work time.

I usually introduce each page as a whole group in the beginning of the school year before we start any independent type of work whether using stations/centers or any kind of daily independent work that fits your teaching style and curriculum.

Starting as a group allows your students to understand the expectations of the sheet and promotes responsible learning in the future. Modeling and demonstrating expectations is so important when for independent expectations.

I personally have used these pages in my first grade classroom to reinforce sight word recognition and spelling of “trick words”. I eventually place them in a file folder in front of my Word Wall and when children are assigned this independent activity during Literacy Stations, they may choose which page they would like to complete.

It should also be noted that I have a space at the bottom of each page where students can choose someone (including me if I am not working with small groups ) to read their words. The “listener” then signs the page. This is for accountability as well as supporting responsibility and independence for learning.
