These are sight word puzzles that I made to correspond with the first set of words from Literacy By Design. I print them on card stock, then cut, laminate, and cut again. They seem to be holding up very well.
I wanted to come up with a fun and hands on way to work with sight words for kindergarten students. My students love puzzles, so I combined their love of puzzles with my need to reinforce the sight words and how you spell them. I put together these puzzles from the first sight words that kindergarten students need to know. I have pulled directly from Literacy by Design for this resource. Each puzzle has 3 (except for "I" and "a" which have 2) pieces. On the top is the word and the kid crown if there is one. The bottom two pieces are the combinations of letters that spell the word. I tried to split the words so that it made the most sense to the kids (ex. "the" is split th-e).
Please leave me feedback on how your students like them. I will be adding to this throughout the year to keep it up to date with where my students and I are.
