Every morning, the first thing my first graders did when they came into the classroom was sign in. I had them do this because helped begin their morning routine, let me know who was absent, but most importantly it got them reading and writing in an authentic way.
One type of sign ins my first grade friends did was the question and answer. They would write read the question at the top, write their name on the left and answer the question in the box to the right of their name. The sign in always connected in some way to their learning in the classroom.
Check back for the different types of sign ins, as well as different collections of the Question and Answer.
I made the file editable, so that you could adapt the graph to the exact number of children you have in your class. The graph provided has space for 20 children. You can always change the number in powerpoint. I also have the date and day where you can edit. I always wrote the date and the number of days we were in school, but this document allows you to type it if you like. Print in color or in black/white.
