After this unit, students will be able to recognize, while reading a text when to pause in order to question, reflect and revise their thinking. Students will be introduced to all six Notice and Note Signposts by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst via some of our favorite picture books. This unit includes a sequence of 6 lesson plans, each focused on one of the six signposts.

Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas
