This a great activity to use with your students when teaching initial sounds (syllable). This is a "hands-on" activity. For this reproducible activity, I have suggested these manipulatives: Classroom A-Z letter center (foam letters) or snap together letter blocks. You can use any other manipulatives you may have.
Students will enjoy this center!! Have students say the name of the picture, initial sounds and then have them form the beginning syllable.
Run these copies on card stock and laminate. I recommend you run these on 4 different colors. This way you can have group rotations and/or small group instructions for those who are struggling identifying initial sounds.
This is a great tool in developing phonemic awareness!!
