Students will demonstrate their understanding of the Roaring 20s, the Stock Market Crash and the Great Depression. Using iPads or other devices that allow for filming and editing of videos students will create Silent Movies. This unit wrap-up/assessment includes a suggested break down of lesson days I used in my classroom, the instruction sheet for students. It includes expectations and a sample rubric to inform students how they will be graded. It also has a planning sheet for students, grading rubrics for the teacher and a group participation form so students can give feedback about how students worked together.
My students enjoyed creating these silent movies. I used it as an alternative to a test at the end of the unit. It took a week and a half of 50 minute periods to complete this project, but it can easily be adapted to fit a shorter or longer time frame.
