This method of documenting silent reading makes every student successful! Print this document front/back for student notebooks or portfolios.
Students track their silent-at-home reading and write brief but meaningful summaries about the most recent pages/chapter once a week.
Students also choose a sentence from their books to "quote" and share aloud. This can be based on teacher requirements, like dialogue, figurative language, challenging vocabulary, etc.
Assess informally, grading weekly or monthly! Students might choose their own grades or use the logs as part of a portfolio self-evaluation. Happy reading!
