I love PowerPoint for helping me plan out my lessons and organizing the materials I present to my students. I also love the ability to use the custom animation feature to act as a timer in my PowerPoints, keeping me, my lesson, and my students on track.
These slides were created to monitor SSR, or sustained silent reading. My middle school ELA department is adding in SSR time to the beginning of every lesson, but many schools at many levels use SSR. If you are searching for a timer to help you add in SSR or to serve as a visual timer for you and your students, this is the product for you.
I have created five different timer slides, all depicting books or bookshelves slowly filling up as the time elapses. Each timer has four preset time amounts. They will time your SSR for ten, twelve, fifteen, or twenty minutes. I have also included instructions for copying the slide you wish to use into an existing PowerPoint. I am happy to assist, however, if you need more instructions. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have specific needs, concerns, requests, or other questions.
Sustained Silent Reading added to the regular curriculum is definitely ELA Worth Keeping.
