Silent e Match Game can be used for practicing how the silent e (sometimes called Magic e) on the end of a word changes the short vowel sound into a long vowel sound. This game is an interactive matching activity that reinforces this phonics rule. Students match single syllable words with the new word that is made when the silent e is added. Silent e Match Game is a great way for students to become independent learners by engaging in word work with a small group, or as an individual. This game would work wonderfully as a centers activity during Guided Reading or Daily Five.
