This activity gives students the opportunity to visit five cities along the Silk Roads. Students will read about the innovations, dangers, and geographic settings of these cities as they travel with their caravan. They are responsible for keeping a record of what they experience and transferring it into a journal. Space for their records and journal are included along with a description of each city. An extra credit opportunity is also included which gives students ideas for creating an authentic final product. You can also add physical objects like Buddha statues, silk scarves, loose tea, glass, compass, and other items mentioned at each stop which would enhance the activity for your students. This activity will help students remember the importance of the Silk Roads often mentioned on state and AP exams.
