This is a fun and easy spring art activity to do as part of a unit on Butterflies. Easy step by step instructions on how to make a silly butterfly, with visuals included. This lesson reinforces math concepts patterns, shapes, and symmetry. Works great with Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." I have simplified the wing and body shapes to make it easier for young children to draw. Each butterfly will look unique! Students love to use their imaginations to create silly and colorful butterflies! I have had great success teaching this lesson to autistic support and life skills students.
