This is a fun writing center activity for building silly sentences, for younger students. Most times the resulting sentences are silly, so your students will have fun creating sentences with this station.
There's a total of 260 word cards: coloured frames seperate the words into: articles, adjectives, nouns, verbs, prepositions and more nouns.
I've used common sight words.
I've included noun cards with picture clues, because younger students will not be able to read all words, but will understand and want to use in sentences. These cards are also included without these images for reading students. So print the set you require.
The sentence pattern is constant: article, adjective, noun, verb, preposition and article noun. I find young students then copy this pattern in their own independent writing.
How I organise and use.
I print, cut and laminate each card.
I store each set separately, I use ziplock bags or rings)
The activity simply involves the student taking a card from each box, arranging them in order, they are numbered. The text on these cards then should make a sentence. Some will be sensible, but most will be funny, impossible and/or entertaining.
Allow the student to create and read a few sentences.
Ask them to choose their favourite, copy it onto the provided sheet and illustrate.
This writing and drawing can be done in a workbook, if you prefer.
Get students to read and share their sentences.
