Product Description
This is a product that can be used whole group or can be placed in a center for students to use year round!

This product contains:
-12 "who" cards (animals, people, creatures)
-12 "what" cards (actions)
-12 "where" cards (setting)
-"Who? What? Where?" card placement mat
-Silly sentence recording sheet with built in rubric
-Nouns and Verbs sorting sheet

This product comes in black and white so it can easily be copied onto 3 different colors of paper to help students differentiate and sort the different categories of cards easily.

Whole group options:

1. Have 3 students each pull a card from 1 of the 3 categories. Put the cards together to make a silly sentence and use whole body language to practice saying the sentence in preparation for writing it down with writing conventions. Model writing the sentence using a capital letter, spaces between words, punctuation at the end of the sentence, and neat handwriting. Have students record and draw a picture to match the sentence using the silly sentence recording sheet with the built in rubric.

2. Have students draw a card and tell whether it is a noun or a verb, explaining how they know. Students can turn and talk with a partner to explain their thinking and compare with their partner.

Center Options:

1. After some practice and modeling, put the cards and recording paper in your writing center for students to use on their own. Students love making different combinations using these cards and the possibilities are almost endless!

2. Students can sort the cards as nouns or verbs and record on the sorting sheet.
