Silly Sentence Scrambler is a fun grammar game that helps students learn the different parts of speech. Much like the game Rummy, students draw and discard different words until they create a complete sentence using the following parts of speech: 1) articles 2) nouns 3) adjectives 4) verbs 5) adverbs and 6) prepositions. The color-coded parts of speech help the students identify them easily. The structure of the game enables them to practice creating descriptive sentences on their own with minimal assistance. The multitude of silly sentence combinations makes it a fun and exciting experience.
Simply print out the list of words on card stock, laminate the sheets and cut out each word in order to make your own deck of cards. For more advanced learners, print the black and white version of the cards, and have the students identify each part of speech on their own.
