Silly Sentence Scrambler is a fun grammar game that helps students learn the different parts of speech. Much like the game, Rummy, students draw and discard different words until they create a complete sentence using the following parts of speech: 1) articles 2) nouns 3) adjectives 4) verbs 5) adverbs and 6) prepositions. The color-coded parts of speech help the students to identify them easily. The structure of the game enables them to practice creating descriptive sentences on their own with minimal assistance. The multitude of silly sentence combinations makes it a fun and exciting experience.
Simply print out the list of words, laminate the sheets and cut out each word in order to make your own deck of cards. For more advanced learners, print the cards in black and white, and have the students identify each type of word on their own.
