This product is intended to be used as a writing centre or activities for students in Grades 1 and 2.
Students put the coloured sticks in order to make silly sentences. It’s a great way to explore different types of words and tenses in writing.
Lesson/Activity Introduction Idea:
I introduce this activity to my class by writing a few silly sentences on chart paper and asking the students to identify the types of words they know (e.g., verbs, adjectives, nouns). I use coloured markers to put a box around the corresponding word types. Next I give students the corresponding activity with silly sentences that they can practice identifying words types. Finally, the students continue independent practice by playing the silly sentences game!
