Get your students clapping out the syllables of silly, spooky pictures! My students absolutely love practicing syllables! These fun activities will get your students excited to learn about syllables and out of their seats! Included are 3 activities that you can use in multiple ways.
Syllable Picture Sort--Students will cut and glue 10 pictures, sorting them by 1, 2 or 3 syllables. Once they're finished have them sound out and label the pictures!
Syllable Sorting Game-Set up 3 buckets with the numbers 1-3. Cut out and laminate the picture cards and have your students sort them by their number of syllables. My students love to play this as an all done choice with a partner!
Find Someone Who...-This game is a big hit in my class! Students will walk around and find a partner who can answer how many syllables are in one of the pictures on their paper. Their partner will record the correct number next to the picture and then sign their name. This will get your students up and out of their seats. Not to mention it facilitates positive social interaction!
