This is an activity I use in my ELS/Work on Words centers. The students manipulate letter tiles on a work board to make words then record them as "real" or "silly" on their recording sheets. They love being able to make silly words and write them down!
There are 15 work boards that include all short vowels, 7 long vowel combinations, the "oo" combination, and 2 r controlled vowels. 2 different answer sheets provide practice for early learners to record their words, or for more advanced learners to write sentences, meanings, and decide if their "silly" words are nouns, adjectives, or verbs.
