Product Description
This assignment has students read "The Making, and Unmaking, of a Child Soldier" an article that first appeared in The New York Times. It's Ishmael Beah's firsthand account of his experience as a child soldier forced to fight in Sierra Leone in the late 90s. (The article was later turned into the popular memoir A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier). Also included are discussion questions where students compare psychological similarities between Beah and the children in Golding's Lord of the Flies.
