Similarity - Task Cards

Students will practice finding missing sides of similar polygons and triangles, writing similarity statements, naming the similarity theorem and finding missing measures using proportional parts with this 36 card set. There are many fun ways to use task cards in the classroom and I have included several of my favorite ideas. Check out the preview to see the if the questions are appropriate for your students.

The cards include the following question types:

Cards 1-6: Finding missing sides of similar polygons

Cards 7-16: Find missing sides of similar triangles

Cards 17-22: Write the similarity statement

Cards 23-30: State if the triangles are similar and state the theorem(AA, SAS, SSS)

Cards 31-36: Find missing measures using proportional parts.

A recording sheet as well as a answer key is included.

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures.
Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar.
Given two figures, use the definition of similarity in terms of similarity transformations to decide if they are similar; explain using similarity transformations the meaning of similarity for triangles as the equality of all corresponding pairs of angles and the proportionality of all corresponding pairs of sides.
