A simple powerpoint presentation to introduce students to similes. It begins with a simple definition of what a simile is, why we should use them in writing, and gives an example of a sentence with and without a simile. This is followed by several slides of common similes, graphic representations of these similes, their meaning, and an example sentence. At the end, students are given the chance to identify 6 similes and then write and illustrate sentences using two similes of their choice.
This resource made teaching similes to my students a lot of fun. They responded very well to the presentation and loved writing sentences and illustrating them on their own.
