In this figurative language sort, students will analyze popular song lyrics for similes, metaphors, and personification. This is a great hands on activity to practice not only learning to identify figurative language but also to analyze why the author used it. Students will cut out the song lyric tiles and analyze each tile and determine if it fits under the Simile category, the Metaphor category, or the Personification category. They will place each tile under its correct category and on a separate piece of paper analyze each simile and metaphor and explain what the author means. Great engaging and fun activity AND common core aligned!
