♥ Start to Finish 4 page Lesson Plan with Step-by-Step guidelines for INTO, THROUGH, BEYOND
♥ Interactive power point - Part I – SIMILE - 19 slides.
After stating our objective the show presents students with an engaging example to hook them from the start! This intro is set up to guide students to come up with the definition of a simile followed by direct instruction to cement the concept. Students are then taught a strategy for interpreting the meaning of a simile. The power point moves students through the lesson, making your job easy—advance to the next slide or pause at various points to facilitate student responses, and enjoy as your students determine the meaning of various similes. The examples build from simple to more complex with fun sound effects and animation throughout.
♥ Printable Pages (See Part I Contents listed below) - The student handout/poster corresponds with a slide in the power point. (The printed lesson plan gives specific guidelines for when to distribute this during the show.) Follow the power point with printable practice pages and an assessment. All were created to increase in difficulty from simple and complex phrases to fictional passages that build in length from 1 - 3 paragraphs.
♥ 4 pages of detailed Answer Keys – In addition to the meanings of the similes, these underline the two things being compared, and circle what they have in common.
