We encounter situations daily that we can choose to simmer (calm down) or ignite (make worse). Think of situation we encounter in life like burning fires; you can either choose to simmer or ignite the fire. When we simmer a fire, just like when we simmer a situation, we cool it down. We make it better. Simmer down a situation has the same effect as throwing water on a fire. When we ignite a fire, just like a situation, it makes it worse. It makes the situation grow and intensify. Igniting a situation has the same effect as throwing fuel on a fire.
During this game, students pick cards and are asked to either simmer or ignite the situation. Students demonstrate their ability to make good choices that simmer situations and identify poor choices that ignite situations. For game rules and more details, click on the preview!
