Take a walk in the park with Simon! Simon sees animals, playground equipment, and clothing, all beginning with /s/. Help your students master /s/ and /s/ blends with faded support over repeated exposures to this narrative activity.

CLINICAL TARGET MASH-UP: Although the primary focus is articulation of /s/ and /s/ blends at varying levels depending on the level of support you determine (i.e. modeled or unmodeled productions at the word, phrase, sentence, or conversational level), opportunities to promote vocabulary skills are embedded within this activity. Students can be challenged to guess targeted nouns from a field of 13 based on written descriptions. Semantic mapping is promoted at the close of the activity when nouns are grouped by category as Simon says goodbye to everything he saw on his walk. This activity offers repeated exposure to irregular past tense “saw”.
