This file contains several resources for practicing and applying three types of sentences: simple, compound and complex. It includes a sorting activity with 36 sentence cards, heading cards and “cheat sheets”, a title page (for you to label the game), student directions, 4 separate recording pages, a one-page story for your students to highlight each type of sentence with an answer key.
To use this product simply print the heading cards and sentence cards on cardstock, laminate, and cut apart. Glue the title page and student direction pages onto opposite sides of a manila folder or large envelope. Store the heading cards, cheat sheet cards & sentence cards inside.
After teaching the basics of simple, compound and complex sentences, have your students complete the sorting activity and accompanying recording pages to check for student understanding. Students can complete these activities at a center, as a partner activity, independently as a formative or summative assessment, or as homework.
You could print and laminate the recording pages for repeated use, or assign them to students as an accountability piece.
I hope you and your students enjoy using this product!
